This amazing collision of beauty and destruction was captured in late August 2017 from the foot of Lake McDonald in Apgar village just a few days before the Sprague wildfire consumed the 104-year-old historic back-country Sperry Chalet. Started by a lightning strike on August 10th this fire will be remembered and discussed for many years to come. Two of nature’s incredible forces are highlighted in this photograph as oppositions while both inspire awe among viewers. Considered the most impressive photograph captured in Glacier National Park in 2017.
